Median means is in the “Middle”

The Median represents the Middle Number in a group of ordered numbers.

Example

4, 8, 2, 1, 5

Ordered Form

1, 2, 4, 5, 8

The Median = 7

Finding the correct Median within a group of Numbers

Step 1

Arrange all the numbers in ordered form from lowest to highest ( least to greatest )

Example:

24, 45, 12, 37, 49

Order form =

12, 24, 37, 45, 49

Finding the Median within the group of numbers ?

The Median represents the middle number within the group. Simply find the middle number which is the Median.

In this Example:

12, 24, 37, 45, 49

37 represents the Median

Finding the Median within the group of numbers with 2 middle numbers ?

If 2 middle numbers are present, simply find the Mean for these 2 numbers.

Example:

14, 18, 21, 25, 44, 46

The 2 Middle Numbers are 21 and 25

= 46
